To improve ease of travel to Boracay, the Boracay iPass automated ticketing and port access system was launched last year at the island’s main gateways: the Caticlan Port and Cagban Port.

Smarter Gateway to Boracay

Boracay iPass is a smart, automated port ticketing system that consolidates mandatory travel fees and access requirements into one digital transaction. It replaces manual, multi-step processing with a streamlined, QR code-based workflow that significantly reduces waiting time and congestion, especially during peak travel periods.

As Boracay continues to attract global attention, systems like Boracay iPass ensure that travel efficiency keeps pace with visitor demand. By improving port processing and simplifying procedures, iPass enhances both the traveler experience and overall destination management.

For visitors, advance registration and a single round-trip payment mean less waiting and more time on the island. For Boracay, Boracay iPass represents a future-ready port solution befitting a world-class destination.

Best Used Before Arrival

Boracay iPass is best used before travelers arrive at the port. By registering and completing payment in advance, passengers can move through port checkpoints more efficiently and avoid multiple queues.

A single Boracay iPass registration and payment provides full round-trip access, covering both arrival to and departure from Boracay, eliminating the need to process payments again for the return trip.

Better Choice

Key features of Boracay iPass include: advanced registration and payment, single round-trip access, QR code-based port entry (one QR code scanned at multiple checkpoints), faster passenger processing and monitoring, and cashless, contactless transactions.

Collaborative Initiative

Developed in 2024, Boracay iPass was built by PisoPay as a partnership project led by Leonard Tirol, in collaboration with the Province of Aklan, the Local Government of Malay, and the Caticlan-Boracay Transport Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CBTMPC).

According to Tirol, who comes from one of Boracay’s founding families, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to modernizing port operations and enhancing the visitor experience to one of the country’s most visited island destinations.

The system also supports Boracay’s tourism management and carrying-capacity framework, helping authorities monitor visitor volume and manage arrivals more efficiently.

PisoPay.com is a licensed fintech and remittance company that provides a secure, integrated digital platform for online payments. PisoPay developed the payment and transaction backbone of Boracay iPass, enabling advanced registration, cashless payments and seamless fee collection at the ports.

Boracay iPass operates as an integrated public-private initiative, bringing together private-sector innovation, government oversight and transport-sector expertise. Tirol provided project leadership and tourism insight, the provincial and local governments ensured regulatory alignment and accountability and CBTMPC contributed operational expertise in port and transport services. This structure allows Boracay iPass to function as an official, integrated port system rather than a standalone travel app.
